Following the success of our first trip Yorkshire Feedstuffs kindly sponsored our second trip which we completed on the 24th May.
Yorkshire Feedstuffs very generously paid for the cost of our second trip to Poland. A big thank you to them.
On the 19th May 2022 we loaded up the van with goods sourced and supplied by Aid for Ukraine in Hereford.
Having set off from Bromsgrove at 2am we arrived in Harwich in good spirits and more importantly in good time for the ferry.
The Stena Line Ferry company has been amazing, once again providing free passage, food and cabins for us.
We drove from the Hook of Holland direct to Warsaw, stopping every 2 hours to change driver. We finally arrived in Warsaw at 9am on Saturday, 31 hours after setting off (24hrs driving, 7hrs on the ferry).
We set to unloading the van ourselves as we had arrived a couple of hours before the distribution centre's staff were due to arrive.
When we had finally unloaded everything from the van even we were amazed by how much we had brought over. We had piles of food, nappies, bedding, clothing, wheelchairs, walking frames, medicines, baby products and infant cots.
Part of the shipment was wheelchairs, crutches, walking sticks and walking frames. Sadly in great demand due to the number of injured civilians.
We were able to take another 10 infant cots each packed with 3 months supplies for an infant. The 12 cots in our previous shipment had already been delivered to very grateful hospitals in Smila and Kharkiv, their arrival in Kharkiv making national news in Ukraine.
We grabbed a few hours sleep in the back of the van on the way back.
Part of this shipment has already been delivered to a Smila Hospital (30th May) and once again we made it onto a Ukrainian news channel.
